School Uniforms

Dress for Success Uniform Policy

Below is the updated uniform policy for 2015-16. We have exciting uniform choices throughout the school year. Thank you to all of the Scholars who assisted in redesigning the uniform last year. Please visit www.FDA2.org for more information on how to order the uniform.

  • Young Women

    Top

    • White button-down Frederick Douglass Academy II embroidered Oxford shirt tucked into pants or skirt.
    • Black or Burgundy Frederick Douglass Academy II embroidered vest or sweater, or Burgundy polo tucked into pants/skirt.

    Bottom

    • Black dress pants or chinos (must be loose fitting). OR Black Frederick Douglass Academy II skirt only. Must be knee length and worn at the waist. Mini-skirts, spandex, tutus and/or skirts made of a sheer fabric are prohibited.
    • Solid Black belt only if wearing pants.
    • Black, white or burgundy socks, tights or stockings.

    Footwear

    • Closed-toe all black dress shoes OR all black ankle high boots.
    • All footwear must not have a heel greater
    • No logos, sneakers, Crocs and/or slippers, Suede Uggs or Uggs-like boots.

  • Young Men

    Top

    • White button-down Frederick Douglass Academy II embroidered Oxford shirt tucked into pants.
    • Solid Burgundy Frederick Douglass Academy II tie.
    • Black or Burgundy Frederick Douglass Academy II embroidered vest or sweater, or Burgundy polo tucked into pants.

    Bottom

    • Solid Black dress pants or chinos.
    • Cargo pants or Jeans are not permitted.
    • Pants are to be worn at (not below) the waist with belt.
    • Solid Black leather belt only.

    Footwear

    • All black dress shoes OR all black boots.
    • No logos and no sneakers, Crocs and/or slippers

As a Reminder…

A Scholar wearing a white shirt and a pair of black pants is not in uniform. Also, a scholar wearing just a T-shirt and a Frederick Douglass Academy II Sweater is NOT in uniform. Finally, the Physical Education uniform is for Physical Education ONLY. It is NOT part of a Scholar’s required dress for success uniform and cannot be worn outside of.

The Frederick Douglass Academy II Physical Education Uniform includes the following items for all scholars:

  • Frederick Douglass Academy II Logo T-Shirt and solid black shorts or sweats.
  • White or black sneakers.
  • A combination lock.
  • Note: Scholars may not keep items overnight in the gym lockers.

Prohibited:

  • No large jewelry belt buckles, earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.
  • No visible necklaces or beads.
  • No hats/caps, headgear, bandanas or doobie-wrapped styles with pins.
  • Clothes must be neat and cannot be too tight or oversize. No spandex garments.
  • No midriffs are to be exposed.

* Please note that changing clothes in the bathroom or in the hallway is not permitted.
